Five Riverhead High School Students Selected to All-County Ensemble
Riverhead Students Display Musical Prowess and Prepare to Participate in Renowned NYSCAME Festival
RIVERHEAD, NEW YORK (NOVEMBER 2024)—Five Riverhead High School students have been selected to the most prestigious student musical ensembles in the county and state. Seniors Melissa Garcia, Christopher Gonzalez Guazhambo, Cheyanne Metzger, and Alice Ries, along with junior Christian Seymour, achieved these positions based on their exceptional NYSSMA scores and recommendations from their music teachers.
“The Riverhead Central School District is proud to cultivate the musical talents and passions of our students,” said Riverhead Central School District Interim Superintendent Cheryl Pedisich. “We commend the dedication and skill that Melissa, Christopher, Cheyanne, Alice, and Christian have displayed. It is wonderful to see their musical achievements recognized as they participate in the most lauded ensembles in Suffolk County and New York State.”
Christian Seymour, an alto saxophone player, was chosen as a member of the NYSCAME All-County Band and as an alternate for the NYSSMA All-State Band. Percussionist Melissa Garcia, clarinetist Christopher Gonzalez Guazhambo, and alto saxophonist Alice Ries, are members of the NYSCAME All-County Band as well. Cheyanne Metzger was selected as a Soprano 1 vocalist for the NYSCAME All-County Chorus.
