Calverton Gunpoint Robbery at Convenience Store Second This Week: Police

The robbery at the Bolla Market and Mobil gas station in Calverton is the second within three days.

A convenience store employee was robbed at gunpoint in Calverton last night, the second such incident within the past three days.

According to Riverhead Town Police, a 911 call came in at 10:08 p.m. on Monday about a robbery that had just taken place at the Bolla Market and Mobil gas station located at 3705 Middle Country Road in Calverton.

The convenience store clerk reported he was robbed at gunpoint by a unknown male wearing dark clothing and brandishing a black handgun, police said. The suspect demanded the cash from the registers and received a undetermined amount before fleeing from the store on foot, police said.

Riverhead Police K-9 responded to the scene and assisted with a search of the suspect, who is still at large. New York State Police also responded and assisted at the scene. The robbery is currently being investigated by the Riverhead Police Detective Division.

The gunpoint robbery was the second in three days: Police said a call came in at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday during the blizzard regarding the Valero gas station, located on New York State Route 25A, for a reported robbery of the convenience store.

Police said an unknown male entered the store and produced a handgun, demanding money from the employee. The suspect received an undetermined amount of cash and fled the store on foot, police said.

Riverhead Police are asking that anyone with information in regard to the robberies can call the police department at 631-727-4500. All calls will be kept confidential.
