LI Weather Update: What's Expected Thursday, After The Snowfall
The blanket of snowfall Wednesday night prompted delayed school openings across Long Island Thursday.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Long Islanders woke up to a light blanket of snow Thursday morning, with school and other openings delayed. But, it won't be a day for sledding and snow fun — rain is expected to continue throughout the morning, according to the National Weather Service.
Thursday's forecast calls for rain, mostly before 2 p.m., with patchy fog rolling in after 2 p.m. The day is slated to be cloudy, with a high near 40 degrees.
Southeast winds of 5 to 11 miles per hour become north in the afternoon; winds could gust as high as 22 miles per hour, the NWS said.

The chance of precipitation Thursday is 70 percent, with new precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible, the NWS said.
Thursday night is forecast to be mostly cloudy, with a low around 33 degrees. A west wind of 6 to 10 mph is expected with gusts as high as 20 mph, the NWS said.

Friday is slated to dawn sunny, with a high near 40 degrees, but wind chill values making it feel more like 25 and 30 degrees. A west wind of 11 to 17 mph is forecast, with gusts as high as 32 mph, the NWS said.
Friday night should be partly cloudy, with a low around 21, degrees, and wind chill values between 15 and 20 degrees. Northwest winds should be about 9 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph, the NWS said.
