Man Dies In Riverhead Crash Involving 2 Motorcycles: Police

RIVERHEAD, NY — An East Hampton man died Sunday after a crash involving two motorcycles on Old Country Road in Riverhead, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, the crash took place at about 8:21 a.m near Target. A 2024 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R, operated by Christian Gutierrez, 21, of East Hampton, struck a 2006 Yamaha R6, operated by Rodolfo Castillo, 54, of Southampton, police said.

Gutierrez sustained numerous injuries and subsequently succumbed to those injuries at the scene, police said.

The Riverhead Police Department's detective division and the New York State Police Department's forensic investigation unit responded to assist in the investigation, police said.

No criminality is suspected; however, the investigation remains ongoing, police said.
