Peconic Man Finds Car With People In His Driveway In Wee Hours: PD
The driver said he did not have a valid beach parking permit for the area and was attempting to avoid a parking ticket, police say.

PECONIC, NY — The summer season is in full swing on the North Fork — with revelers heading to area beaches. One resident, however, got a surprise when he woke up in the middle of the night to find a car full of strangers in his driveway.
According to Southold Town police, the incident took place on June 9 at 4:41 a.m. on Mill Lane in Peconic.
Officers responded to the Goldsmith's Inlet area after a report of loud noise and vehicles parked without permits, police said.

Upon arrival, officers took note of a vehicle parked in a private driveway with occupants inside, police said. The homeowner woke up to the commotion and stated that the vehicle did not have permission to park there; he said he wished to pursue charges against the individual parked at his residence, police said.
The Bellport man, 26, who was driving the vehicle said he was parked in the driveway because he did not have a valid beach permit for the area and was attempting to avoid a parking ticket, police said.

He was issued a field appearance ticket for trespassing and was told to Southold Town Justice Court at a later date, police said.
