Pickup Crashes Into Store, Woman Arrested: Police

The vehicle careened into the glass window of a Riverhead store Friday, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A car careened into a Riverhead store window Friday night — and a woman was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, the crash took place at 11:09 p.m. Friday when a black pickup crashed into the former Aaron's furniture store on Rt. 58. Officer found the 2004 Ford partially inside the building, damaging the front window and door frame, police said.

Damionna Henderson, 21, said as she was driving through the parking lot, her vehicle skidded on the ice, causing her to lose control and sending it crashing into the building, police said.

Henderson sustained lacerations to her hand and was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corp and released, police said. A female passenger was not hurt, police said.

Henderson was arrested and charged with third degree aggravated operation of a motor vehicle after driving with a license that was suspended in Dec. 1019 for speeding, police said. She was taken to police headquarters, processed, and released on an appearance ticket, police said.
