Here are the top stories today in Riverhead:

  1. New York State made a significant investment in downtown Riverhead revitalization Thursday, announcing a $10 million grant to further ongoing efforts to infuse new life into the historic area. Riverhead Town Supervisor Yvette Aguiar announced the New York State Downtown Revitalization grant; the Village of Amityville also received a $10 million grant. (Riverhead Patch)
  2. The Suffolk County Police Department is accepting donations at each of the SCPD precincts and headquarters through Friday, Jan. 14 for the survivors of a New York City apartment building fire that killed 17 people and hospitalized dozens. The items needed are nonperishables, such as clothing, sheets, baby items and more. (Newsbreak)
  3. Suffolk County Police posted a sketch of the man killed a car crash in Medford on Jan. 4. Police said the victim has been identified as 29-year-old Saul Lozada of Patchogue. The police are thanking the public for their participation in the search to identify Lozada. (News 12 Long Island)
