NORTH FORK, NY — Zeus, a sweet senior dog, is at a North Fork shelter, waiting patiently for a forever family to love him.

Zeus, 10, was adopted from The League when he was just a puppy, said Gabrielle Stroup, director of operations at the rescue, which has locations in Peconic and in Aquebogue.

"He was picked up as a stray a few weeks ago and when we contacted the owners, they said they did not want him anymore," she said.

Zeus, she added, is a pit bull mix. "He loves people — and is very sad at the shelter."

Zeus is also very affectionate and has tested well with cats, she said.
