"This is so tragic," Torre Hennessy told Patch. "Stephanie was our mother’s helper when my brother and I were little. We reconnected a few years ago when her kids were at Aquebogue and I was teaching there. We connected again through line dancing. She was one of the kindest, sweetest, most lovely people you could ever meet. My heart is broken."
She added: "She never changed from the time I met her when I was 10, 46 years ago, until the last time I saw her at line dancing. Truly one of the most amazing humans I’ve ever met."
"Stephanie was remembered in a heartfelt video on social media. "Rest in peace, my dear friend. Stephanie, I love you so much, and I will miss you every single day for the rest of my life. You are a wonderful person and one of my best friends — and you will never be forgotten. You will be forever in my heart," wrote Jennifer Durante-Demeo.
