'Torrential' Rain Leads To Flooded Roads, Since Reopened, In Riverhead
Despite flooding and some road closures, Riverhead emerged relatively unscathed after Mother Nature socked Long Island with a severe storm.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Sunday night's torrential rain across Long Island led to a series of water rescues, basements submerged in water, and severe flooding.
In Riverhead, Supervisor Tim Hubbard said there were some road closures reported: Sound Avenue was closed near Gregory Way; Heidi Behr Way was also closed, but both were reopened by Monday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, Calverton was hit with 5.48 inches of rain, Riverhead received 4.53 inches, and Baiting Hollow saw 4.27 inches, compared to areas such as Sound Beach, which received 10.18 inches.

Sunday night's flash flood warning, and a later flood warning, in Riverhead have now expired, with roads open again.
