1 Killed When Car, Tanker Crashes In Elmsford
Authorities said the driver of the tanker was able to escape with minor injuries.
GREENBURGH, NY — One person was killed in a crash involving a car and a fuel tanker in Elmsford Sunday.
The Greenburgh Police Department said the crash happened around 11:50 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Saw Mill River Road and Fieldcrest Drive in Elmsford.
When emergency responders got to the accident, a Honda sedan and a fuel tanker were engulfed in flames, authorities said.

While the driver of the tanker was able to escape with minor injuries, the driver of the Honda was unable to be saved.
Greenburgh detectives determined that the Honda was traveling north on Saw Mill River Road and collided head-on with the tanker.

The car and the cab portion of the fuel tanker burst into flames. Police said that, fortunately, the trailer portion which was carrying gasoline did not ignite.
Police said the identity of the driver is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
