16-Year-Old Charged with Robbing Cab Driver

A 16-year-old Graham School student was arrested and charged with robbery, criminal mischief and assault after an alleged altercation with a cab driver on Oct. 27 around 9:30 a.m.
The student allegedly became upset after the cab driver said he couldn’t smoke in the car after a ride from the Bronx to his school campus in Hastings-on-Hudson, police said. Equan Harding is accused of breaking one of the taxi windows, valued at $100; and assaulting and robbing the driver, a 57-year-old Bronx man, for $71 before fleeing.
Police arrested Harding on O’Dell Avenue in Yonkers on the Old Croton Aqueduct. He was charged robbery in the third degree, a class d felony; criminal mischief in the fourth degree; and assault in the third degree. He was held on $15,000 bail and was sent to Westchester County Jail.
