The Holocaust Living history initiative is just one of a series of living history initiatives that the town has been airing on local TV channels and on you tube. We have interviewed 150 Greenburgh veterans of World War II and the Korean conflict. We also have a very interesting 9-11 stories featuring local survivors of 9-11. Our Black history travelling museum highlights the lives of prominent African Americans who lived in Greenburgh.
Greenburgh is a diverse community made of residents from different religious and ethnic backgrounds. If you would be interested in creating a living history series about how your family had to overcome challenges before coming to Greenburgh please e mail me at pfeiner@greenburghny.com. These living history stories will be shared with schools and libraries and provide future generations with a better understanding of the experiences Greenburgh residents have had.
It’s important to invite residents from different backgrounds to highlight the resilience and struggles local families and their parents had to overcome. Personal stories of struggle-war, migration, discrimination, rebuilding- help to humanize broader historical events. These videos encourage a deeper understanding of what our local neighbors experienced during their lives.
