YONKERS, NY — A driver who drew attention to himself was in no condition to be on the road, according to state troopers.

New York State Police say that on Thursday, around 9:50 p.m., troopers from Tarrytown responded to reports of a vehicle driving in an "erratic manner" southbound on the NYS Thruway, in Yonkers.

Witnesses told state police that the vehicle was driving "all over the road," and the driver appeared to be drinking alcohol while driving.

After troopers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, the driver was identified as 30-year-old Gerardo Salguero-Galvez, of Tenafly, New Jersey.

While troopers were interviewing Salguero-Galvez, they noticed signs of intoxication and an open alcohol container in the vehicle. Due to his high level of intoxication, troopers were unable to perform standardized field sobriety tests, and Salguero-Galvez was arrested for DWI, police said.

He was taken to Tarrytown for processing where he recorded a 0.25 percent BAC, more than triple the legal limit, NYSP said. Salguero-Galvez was issued an appearance ticket to return to Yonkers City Court on May 30.
