Afternoon DWI Weed Arrest

A 27-year-old was hit with a slew of charges when he was pulled over on Dec. 10 at Broadway and Elm Place after a police license plate reader alerted officers that his vehicle’s registration was suspended.

The Mount Vernon man was stopped at 3:37 p.m. and was subsequently charged with driving while ability impaired, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana after police allegedly found a large plastic baggie with cigar paper and dried green plant leaves. He was also charged with traffic infractions for allegedly refusing a chemical test on the scene, unlicensed operation of a vehicle, having an unregistered vehicle and not having car insurance.

A judge set his bail at $200 and he is to return to court on Jan. 2.
