Biden's Irvington Visit Causing Some Early School Dismissals

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — With a visit to Irvington by President Joe Biden expected to cause road closings and traffic delays Thursday, some schools in the immediate area are choosing to have early dismissals.
Westchester County and local police departments said to expect road closures, difficult travel and possible gridlock from mid-afternoon Thursday through the evening because of the presidential motorcade.
Emergency vehicles would also be impacted by closures and traffic congestion.

While road closures are not projected within all of the villages, access highways and parkways will be affected, likely making travel in and out of the area problematic.
President Biden will be attending a fundraising event in Irvington, the exact location of which has not been released.

Here are the schools that announced changes in their schedules for Thursday:
- Ardsley: 11:04 a.m. AHS release; 11:39 a.m. AMS release; 12:14 p.m. CRS release.
- Dobbs Ferry: Springhurst: K-2 dismissal at 1:00 p.m. and 3-5 dismissal at 1:30 p.m; Middle and High Schools: dismissal at 1:30 p.m.; out-of-district schools dismissal at noon; district-wide choral festival will take place from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.; after-school activities, including athletics, may be rescheduled.
- Hasting-on-Hudson: FMS and HHS will release at 12:45 p.m.; Hillside will release at 1 p.m.; all after-school and evening activities and programs will be canceled.
- Irvington: Dows Lane School 11:15 a.m. release; High School 11:41 a.m. release; Main Street 12:10 p.m. release; Middle School 12:20 p.m. release.
- Tarrytown: Washington Irving 12:35 p.m. release; Morse 1:15 p.m. release; Middle/High schools 1:35 p.m. release; John Paulding: 2:15 p.m. release; all after-school programs and activities will be canceled; out-of-district schools dismissal begins at noon.
