DOBBS FERRY, NY — Registered voters in Dobbs Ferry will be going to the polls Tuesday, March 21 to decide whether to allow “adult-use retail cannabis dispensaries” in the village.

On Dec. 13, the village trustees adopted a local law that rescinded the prohibition against establishing marijuana retail shops in Dobbs Ferry.

A year earlier, trustees chose to opt-out of allowing marijuana retail shops to be set up in the village. Opting out gave municipalities a change to change their minds at a later date.

The Dec. 13 local law was subject to a permissive referendum — meaning the public gets to decide — as mandated by state cannabis law.

Petitions were submitted to the village clerk, who determined there was a sufficient number to call for a special election.
