Dobbs Ferry Voters Go To Polls Over Cannabis Sales

The decision by the village trustees to allow retail sales was subject to a permissive referendum.

DOBBS FERRY, NY — Voters in Dobbs Ferry will be going to the polls Tuesday to decide whether to allow retail cannabis shops in the village.

The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

On Dec. 13, the village trustees adopted a local law that rescinded the prohibition against establishing marijuana retail shops in Dobbs Ferry that had been decided a year earlier.

The new local law was subject to a permissive referendum, which meant the public gets to have the final say, as mandated by state cannabis law.

Absentee ballot deadlines are:

  • Monday is the last day for an applicant or agent to apply in person at the Board of Elections for the General Village/Special Election absentee ballot.
  • Tuesday is the last day to postmark the General Village/Special Election absentee ballot by mail. The ballot must be received by the Board of Elections no later than March 28.
  • Tuesday is the last day to deliver the General Village/Special Election absentee ballot in person to the Board of Elections or at any poll site throughout the county, by the close of the polls on election day.
