IMS Students Combine Curriculum and Film

Irvington sixth graders will not only learn English language arts, but will get to affect social as they learn.

On Friday students will feature about 36 digital stories, that are about two minutes each, on themes of bullying and cyber bullying, earth stewardship, loyalty, friendship and more. 

The second Sixth Grade IMS Film Festival was made possible by collaboration with the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville and funded by the Irvington Education Foundation. The program has students create storyboards and images in addition to editing and adding audio to their films, aimed at affect encouraging social change, in their ELA classes.

The films will be shown in sets from Friday, Dec. 21 between 8:40 a.m. when students walk the red carpet, and 12:15 p.m. in the IMS Theater at the Irvington Middle/High School Campus and in between sets students will break into small groups to discuss the effectiveness of how their message was communicated.
