Irvington District Budget Comes In Under Tax Cap

A tax cap of 0.07 percent means that dollars from the tax levy are lower than last year.

The Irvington Union Free School District has proposed a budget for the 2016-17 school year. The budget factors in the following amounts:

Proposed budget: $58,330,000.

Budget to budget change: $666,000

Budget increase: 1.15 percent

Estimated tax rate increase of 1.25 percent.

The 2016-17 proposed tax levy of $50,890,214 is a decrease of $37,384 from the 2015-16 levy. This amount is $304 below the tax cap calculated limit.

The budget will fund instructional and extracurricular programs while expanding STEM and World Language opportunities at the high school. It will also fund an additional modified volleyball team at the middle school.

The budget vote and trustee election takes place from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on May 17 at the Main Street School.
