Police: 2 Men Arrested After Heroin Bust in Irvington

Twenty packets of heroin, 28 hypodermic needles and six Suboxone packets (a narcotic drug often prescribed to lessen the withdrawal symptoms of heroin addiction) were recently recovered during an arrest of two men in downtown Irvington, police said.

Following a short-term investigation, members of the Greenburgh Drug and Alcohol Task Force reported taking the two individuals into custody at the intersection of Main Street and South Astor Street on Friday, Jan. 25 at approximately 5 p.m., police said.

A 25-year old male from Brooklyn was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree (possession with intent to sell, both class B felonies). The other defendant, a 37-year old male from the Bronx was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor., police said.

Both defendants were arraigned in the Irvington Court, released on bail and are due back on Monday, Jan. 27. Task force reports that the investigation is continuing and will report further information when available, police said.
