Presidential Visit To Westchester Likely To Tie Up Traffic

The Irvington Police Department is cautioning motorists about possible road closures before, during and after the visit.

IRVINGTON, NY — A visit to Irvington by President Joe Biden is expected Thursday.

Biden is due in the area for a campaign fundraiser, the location of which has not been released.

The Irvington Police Department is warning that there will be significant traffic impacts from mid-afternoon Thursday through rush hour.

In a Facebook post, the police said, in addition, “[t]here will also be several major thoroughfares subject to long-term closures in Westchester County, which will add to the traffic impacts on secondary roads.”

Rail service on Metro-North’s Hudson Line isn’t expected to be impacted by the president’s visit.

Police said, to avoid significant delays, it would be best for motorists to avoid traveling in the area after 2 p.m. Thursday.

Among those said to be attending the fundraiser, for which guests will pay up to $100,000, are husband-and-wife actors Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones and fashion designer Eileen Fisher.
