Rivertowns College Roundup: May 5-12

Spotlight on: Jeremy Mancus - 
In the semi-final of the Empire 8 men's tennis Championship,held at the number one seeded Stevens Tech on May 5, Jeremy Mancus of Irvington and Nazareth College, won his singles match over an Ithaca opponent 6-1,6-0, and then he and his doubles partner also triumphed 8-5. 

Unfortunately, the opposing Bombers won the day, 5-3, and moved on to the championship matches on May 6th with Stevens. Thus ended the college tennis career for Mancus, as he was a senior at Nazareth. In his final season, he had a singles record that was 10-11 overall, 9-9 in duals, and 5-2 in conference play. His doubles record was 9-11, 9-9 and 5-2. 

His Golden Flyers had a record of 6/12/5-2.   In the first round of the Northeast 10 playoffs, the Southern New Hampshire University's baseball team, leading in the top of the ninth inning, saw the Bentley College Falcons tally two runs  in the bottom of the frame, and consequently eliminated the Penmen from further competition, and at the same time ending the SNHU season. 

In this, the final game of his collegiate career, Andrew Pezzuto of Hastings-on-Hudson, batted one for four and fanned twice in the game. On the season, he had the team's highest batting average at .388, while the team's won-lost record was 33-17/16-12.
