Saw Mill River Parkway Sinkhole Collapse Closes Roadway

Both north and south lanes of the highway in Westchester have been closed to traffic. Officials are asking drivers to avoid the area.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — A sinkhole has collapsed a portion of the Saw Mill River Parkway in southern Westchester County.

The Saw Mill River Parkway southbound, between Lawrence Street in Dobbs Ferry and Farragut Avenue in Hastings, are closed because of the road collapse. The northbound parkway was also closed at Farragut Avenue as a precaution, but one lane has since reopened.

UPDATE: A single Northbound lane has now reopened, according to the Westchester County Police Department. The Saw Mill River Parkway remains closed southbound at Farragut Parkway in Hastings-on-Hudson due to the partial road collapse. All southbound traffic is being diverted off the roadway at Lawrence Street in Dobbs Ferry. Northbound traffic in this area is restricted to one lane of traffic.

Traffic is being rerouted to Saw Mill River Road 9A, according to officials in Hastings.

The roadway gave way shortly before 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening, according to the NYSDOT.
