Hastings-on-Hudson Mayor Peter Swiderski reports that one-third of Hastings-o-Hudson is without power and that about seven or eight homes and several cars have were damaged by fallen trees and limbs during the storm.
There are still live wires that are downed and other hazards, so Swiderski is asking that peopel should stay indoors and not to expect power back for a few days. Broadway in Hastings-on-Hudson is shut and River Street is underwater, though Southside Avenue and the Metro-North train tracks haven't been breached.

“It is a mess out there and we are in a rapidly evolving situation where a lot of people are without power (numbers not clear at this point in time, but certainly at least a thousand and perhaps a third of the village), there are dozen of trees down, several houses struck and damaged, and it is, in short, a mess,” said Hastings-on-Hudson Mayor Peter Swiderski in an e-mail blast.
"We have pulled the police and fire department off the street unless called out for crisis emergency because of near-misses by falling trees and limbs.”
Hastings-on-Hudson, Irvington and Dobbs Ferry Police Departments are busy taking calls about fallen trees and wires and other storm damage and emergency situations. Only call your local police department if you have an emergency, or to report a tree or power cable down or a resident who may be in danger.
While Con Edision has all four villages on a “pending” power restoration status, however Swiderski reports that power won’t be restored until starting well into Tuesday. Swiderski also said that Con Edison won’t put trucks out until the winds fall below 40 mph, which he estimates will be around noon Tuesday.
Officials are urging all to stay in doors until the storm subsides.
“This will storm will be over soon enough and a good story to be told down the road,” said Swidersi. “For now, be safe.”
