1. The $6.2 million painting project for Rochester's Douglass-Anthony Bridge is complete (whec.com) — Rochester’s Frederick Douglass–Susan B. Anthony Memorial Bridge has just finished a $6.2 million repainting project, extending its life and protecting the steel from corrosion for another decade or more. The work, which refreshed the bridge that carries I-490 over the Genesee River, is the first major preventative maintenance since the span opened in 2007.
   

2. ‘I miss her very much': Family pleads for help in search for missing Rochester person (rochesterfirst.com) — Rochester police and family are urgently searching for 33-year-old Carolyn “Danny” Siplin, whose Jeep was found still running on the Upper Falls Bridge with her phone and belongings inside. Loved ones say it’s unlike her to lose contact and have been organizing daily searches. Anyone who may have seen her or has information is asked to call 911 immediately.
   

3. Today in Black History: December 25th (sdvoice.info) — One of the most famous names in jazz, Cab Calloway, was actually born in Rochester before rising to stardom in Harlem’s Cotton Club. A Black History spotlight for December 25 also honors author Octavia Victoria Rogers Albert and baseball legend Rickey Henderson, tracing how each reshaped literature, music, and sports in lasting ways.
   

4. NYDOH reports highest number of flu cases ever recorded in one week (rochesterfirst.com) — New York is seeing its highest-ever weekly flu case count, and Monroe County alone reported 2,357 cases and 201 hospitalizations for the week ending December 20. State health officials urge vaccination, staying home when sick, and early antiviral treatment for high‑risk people. Local infectious disease experts note flu season is hitting earlier and harder than usual.
   

5. Built at 5, displayed at 11: Rochester boy's LEGO rocket at RMSC (rochesterfirst.com) — An 11-year-old Rochester resident’s LEGO Saturn V rocket is now featured in a new space-themed exhibit at the Rochester Museum & Science Center. Visitors can see his model alongside items that have traveled to space and a mural of Rochester and the Finger Lakes as seen from orbit, plus other interactive displays.
