Blakeman Addresses Governor Bid, Says, 'I'm Going To Do My Due Diligence': Report

Blakeman addressed his possible bid in an interview with WRGB in Albany.

ALBANY, NY. — Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman sat down for an interview with WRGB Albany Thursday, in which he said he would make a decision on running for governor in upcoming weeks.

Blakeman's trip off Long Island came one week after a convincing electoral win for the county executive, on a night when Republicans in Nassau County fared much better than their fellow party members in New Jersey, New York City and Virginia.

It also came a week after news broke of U.S. Representative Elise Stefanik's run for governor. Some experts say Stefanik already has the backing of President Donald Trump in the gubernatorial race, citing endorsements by the president of Blakeman and U.S. Representative Mike Lawler for reelection to their current posts.
