Authorities Investigating Tuesday Afternoon Fire In Rockville Centre

The fire broke out just before 2:30 p.m., officials say.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY. — The Rockville Centre fire department responded with help from departments in Hempstead, Lakeview, Lynbrook and Malverne Tuesday afternoon after receiving a call about house fire on Hillside Drive just before 2:30, the Nassau County fire marshal's office said.

Upon arrival, the fire marshal's office said firefighters discovered a fire that had started outside the Hillside Drive home and spread into its basement. Department officials said they were able to bring the fire under control in about 20 minutes.

The fire marshal’s office and the Nassau County police arson and bomb squad are investigating the fire, the fire marshal’s office said.
