Crime Watch: Cars Broken Into at Merrick Road Gym

Recent police activity as reported by the RVC PD.

The following information was supplied by the RVC Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Arrests:

On May 23 at 6:49 p.m., Lane D. Reitler, 54, of Rockville Centre, was arrested and charged with DWI and leaving the scene of an auto accident after striking an occupied auto on Front Street and then leaving the scene. No injuries reported.

On May 27 at 10:45 p.m., Daisy Yuanis, 38, of Hempstead, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault (Assault on a Police Officer) following a disturbance on N. Centre Avenue. The defendant was also found to have an open Long Beach warrant for disorderly conduct.

On May 27 10:59 a.m., David C. Jackson, 36, of Hempstead, was arrested and charged with trespass following an altercation at Molloy College.

On May 27 at 2:19 p.m., William E. Rivas,19, of Hempstead, was arrested and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, unlicensed operation, and impeding traffic on the Merrick Road ramp to Sunrise Highway. The defendant was also found to have an open arrest warrant for second-degree criminal impersonation.

On May 28 at 1:52 p.m., Alcenia Smith, 36, of Rockville Centre, was arrested and charged with two counts of disorderly conduct following a disturbance in Old Mill Court.

Appearance Ticket:

On May 27 at 5:55 p.m., Leonardo Moran, 42, of Lynbrook, was issued an appearance ticket returnable to First District Court for sale of alcohol to a person under 21 following an investigation at the North Park Avenue Deli & Grocery, located 149 N. Park Ave. in RVC.

Leaving the Scene of an Auto Accident:

On May 26 at 3:15 p.m., an Elmont resident reported damage to his 2008 Chevy motor vehicle caused by a vehicle which left the scene. Incident occurred in the vicinity of Sunrise Highway and North Marion Avenue.

On May 26 at 6:33 p.m., a South Centre Avenue resident reported damage to her 2003 Mercedes motor vehicle caused by a vehicle which left the scene.

On May 28 at 6 p.m. a Rockville Centre resident reported being involved in an auto accident with two other vehicles on Sunrise Hwy. One vehicle left the scene.

Larceny:

On May 23 at 9:30 p.m., a Valley Stream resident reported his wallet was stolen from a locker at the Dolphin Fitness Center located at 279 Sunrise Hwy. The victim found his wallet a short time later in a garbage can on Front Street. His license, two debit cards and $400 were missing. An attempt to use a debit card was made at the Jamaica LIRR station in Queens at about 7:10 p.m.

On May 25 at 1:35 p.m., a teacher at Molloy College reported his laptop was stolen from a classroom.

On May 25 at 10:16 p.m., a Valley Stream resident reported an unknown person broke a side window on his 2010 Nissan and removed a pair of sunglasses while he was inside Bally’s at 60 Merrick Road.

On May 27 at 4:20 p.m., a S. Centre Avenue resident reported her son observed a male subject steal his bicycle from their driveway.

Criminal Mischief:

On May 25 at 10:16 p.m., a Baldwin resident reported an unknown person broke a side window on her 2002 Toyota while she was inside Bally’s at 60 Merrick Road.

On May 25 at 10:16 p.m., a Cedarhurst resident reported an unknown person broke a side window on his 2010 Toyota while he was inside Bally’s at 60 Merrick Road.

Graffiti:

On May 23 at 9 a.m., a school district security supervisor reported finding new graffiti on the school district maintenance building on Maple Avenue.

On May 23 at 5:30 p.m., a Broadway resident reported finding new graffiti on the walk bridge near his home.
