Former Cyclone Earns Rookie of the Week Honors

Matt Sollin, last year's starting catcher for the Conference A-II championship South Side Cyclones, is continuing to excel in his first year playing at Maritime College. The left-handed slugger was recently named the Skyline Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week.

According to www.maritimeathletics.com: 

As the designated hitter against the Beavers, Sollin was 4-for-5 in the game with two runs scored, two doubles, a triple, a walk and an RBI-single in the top of the ninth, as part of Maritime’s rally for the victory. He finished the game with two RBIs. It was his third multi-RBI game of the season.

For South Side last year, Sollin batted .377 and had a team-leading 1.219 OPS. Sollin also led the team in walks (23) and runs scored (28). Sollin had both walk-off, game-winning hits against New Hyde.
