Lady Lions Volleyball Drops Fifth Straight

Molloy falls to Dominican College, 3-1; stand at 3-5 on season.

Molloy sophomore outside hitter Jenna Faggione slammed down a match-high 15 kills, but it wasn't enough as Molloy's volleyball team lost 3-1 (20-25, 25-16, 19-25, 25-27) to Dominican College last week at Coach Baxter Court in Orangeburg, New York.

With the loss, the Lions extended their losing steak to five, and stand at 3-5  on the season. The Chargers, who have won two consecutive matches, improve to 5-7.

During the opening set, the Chargers trailed 17-16 before they scored five unanswered points to take a four-point lead, 21-17. After that, Dominican never looked back, winning the set, 25-20. Dominican sophomore middle blocker/outside hitter, Courtney Heard, began the set-icing burst with a kill. Heard closed out the evening with four kills, three blocks, two digs and a pair of aces.

After pulling within one point of Dominican in the third set at 12-11, the Chargers rattled off five consecutive points to take a 17-11 lead. After an ensuing kill by senior outside hitter Meaghan Meyer, the Chargers racked up four unanswered points for their biggest margin, 21-12, en route to a 25-19 set win.
