Nikki Haley Suspends Presidential Campaign, Wishes Trump Well

LONG ISLAND, NY — The presidential race has been pared down with Republican candidate Nikki Haley suspending her campaign after substantial Super Tuesday losses.

While Haley didn't support Donald Trump, she did "wish him well" in her brief remarks Wednesday.

"She lost, but she also took away from President Trump," Naysa Woomer, former communications director for George Santos, told Patch. "This still could impose a greater challenge to him."

As for endorsing the GOP standard bearer, "If she does, it's going to be on her own terms," Woomer said.

Rather than inclusivity, as Woomer pointed out, Trump previously said anyone who voted for Haley would be barred permanently.

"That should have never been said from the start," Woomer said.

Trump on his social media feed Wednesday didn't appear interested in unifying with Haley, saying in part: "Nikki Haley got TROUNCED last night, in record setting fashion." The former president did "invite all of the Haley supporters to join the greatest movement in the history of our Nation."

Regardless, the rematch that many Americans did not want to see, is no longer in the rear view mirror. President Biden and Trump will be atop their party's ticket in November.

"Age is a huge factor," Woomer said. "Both of them face that challenge of 'how are they going to gain the moderate Republicans [and] Independents?"
