PETA Honors Oceanside FD for Cat Rescue
Oceanside Fire Department was recognized for their care for animals after their Mother's Day rescue.

A prominent animal rights group honored Oceanside Fire Department for rescuing a cat from a storm drain last month.
The certificate of recognition, which was posted to the Oceanside FD Facebook page, says PETA recognizes the department for their rescue.
“May the department’s kindness serve as an example for others to emulate,” they wrote.

A frantic family called the OFD on Mother’s Day when Roscoe became stuck at the bottom of a storm drain.
After testing the 12-foot deep drain for lethal gases, firefighter Danny Leboff squeezed down a ladder to the bottom and rescued the frightened feline.

Leboff resurfaced and was met with loud applause from a crowd of onlookers, which included the cat’s teary-eyed owner. Read the story here.
