Spaulding, Kramer Elected to BOE

Kramer to serve first term; Spaulding gets reelected.

Incumbent Gregg Spaulding and newcomer Mayda Kramer were elected to the Board of Education on Tuesday night. Both candidates ran unopposed, with Spaulding receiving 2,242 votes, and Kramer garnering 1,793.

Spaulding, who replaced former board member Kathy Horace about a year ago after she stepped down before her term ended, will serve his first three-year term.

"I hope to continue keeping the services we have in place now and strengthen them," he said. "I'd like to see the district become more technology-oriented. How we get there is going to be a priority of mine."

Kramer, who is also the high school's co-PTA president, said she was excited about the opportunity to join the Board of Education and make a difference.

"I'm excited and I'm looking forward to it," she said. "It's going to be challenge. It's an opportunity to really learn what the school does from a different perspective, analyze and understand it, and be a part of changing it and making it better."
