Upgrades For Mercy Hospital Emergency Department
It's part of a $6 million project to modernize the Rockville Centre facility.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — Catholic Health Mercy Hospital held a ribbon cutting on Tuesday for its new emergency department.
The $6 million project is the first phase of the complete upgrade of the Rockville Centre facility, which receives an average of 35,000 patients each year.
"The emergency department is the first point of entry for patients admitted to the hospital; therefore, updating our ED was crucial to meet the needs of the community and to address the evolving trends in health care," said Mercy Hospital President Joseph Manopella.

Changes to the emergency department will alleviate overcrowding by reconfiguring patient flow.
Advanced technology will ensure timely diagnostics and optimized workstations for medical teams, the hospital said in a statement.
The new layout will also decrease wait times.

For first responders, the modernization included relocating the EMS triage closer to the ambulance bay to allow for more streamlined communication and coordination. For hospital staff, workspaces have been enhanced throughout the ED to allow for an improved work environment and a better field of vision to ensure patient safety.
“The modernization incorporates patient-centric design principles to create a more welcoming and empathetic setting for patients and their families,” Mercy Hospital Chairman of Emergency Medicine Dr. Robert Bramante.
