Week in Review

A condensed version of this week's local news.

As the new week approaches, let's look at some of the stories featured last week on Rockville Centre Patch.

Molloy College's tennis and soccer seasons kicked off, and both teams failed to register a win in their season opener. Local kids and teens helped grow and prune their own vegetables at the MLK Center garden, and some new job opportunities opened up in the village. We ran sports previews for Chaminade football, as well as the Catholic High School Football League, while a Rockville Centre native who lifeguards in Atlantic Beach saved a drowning man, also from RVC, from a riptide that was pulling him out to sea. The county also held a sunset vigil for 9/11 victims at Eisenhower Park.

South Side High School opened its football season with a 56-7 loss to Lawrence and Patch Regional Editor David Reich-Hale spoke at length with Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano on the MTA's threat to cut LI Bus services. Judy Griffin, our holistic health coach, offered some healthy snack alternatives for kids, and RVC police officer Stephen Reidy was named "Cop of the Month." An interior designer from RVC helped turn homeowners design dreams into reality, and the Haagen-Dazs on Merrick Road closed down, while Tasty Crepes took its spot.
