Blind Brook-Rye Union School Budget Vote Tuesday
Voters will have their say on the district's planned $52,567,594 spending package for 2022-2023 on May 17, when the budget is on the ballot.

RYE BROOK, NY — Voters will have the final say on the school budget on May 17.
The proposed budget is $52,567,594, with a 2.73 percent increase over the 2021-22 spending package.
School officials said the tax levy will increase by 4.01 percent if the budget is approved by voters later this month.

There are a total of two school board seats to be filled for three-year terms. The candidates for the school board are:
- Richard Buzin (incumbent)
- Naomi Schaefer Riley
- Samantha Smith
The district said that it needs to replace four of its school buses. Therefore, the following bus proposition will appear on the ballot: "Shall the Blind Brook-Rye Union Free School District be authorized to lease-purchase four (4) 72-passenger school buses at an annual cost not to exceed $103,680, for a five (5) year term, commencing July 1, 2022 and terminating on June 30, 2027, and to levy the necessary tax therefore?"

The School Budget Vote and Board of Education Elections will take place May 17, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Bruno M. Ponterio Ridge Street School, in the gym.
