
Up-and-coming boy band Midnight Red will be performing live at Rye Playland's Music Tower Theater on Saturday, July 20. The show is part of the 2013 Pop Explosion teen music festival. It begins at 5 p.m. and the rides will be open from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. for the event.Â

Midnight Red, with its trademark controlled harmonies and energetic dance moves, has garnered comparisons to the music industry’s greatest boy bands. Formed in 2009, Midnight Red has been the opening act for Carly Rae Jepsen and New Kids on the Block/Backstreet Boys. The band is currently recording its debut album, which is expected to be released this year on the Interscope Records label.

The show’s opening acts include performances by Matt Hunter, Frankie Zulferino, L2, Mike Mason, Jill Jensen and Kenzi.
Playland’s concerts, sponsored by WFAS, 103.9 FM, will continue all summer long featuring headliners R5 on July 27 and Jake Miller on August 23. Concerts are free with Playland park admission for “standing room only” or lawn seating. Limited reserved seating is available through Ticketmaster.comand will be available for sale at the park on the day of the show only. Parking is $7 per car.
