CBS News Features The Capitol Theatre

CBS news' Anthony Mason interviews The Cap's owner and musicians and covers the history of Port Chester's newest rock venue.

In a segment titled "Rock Place Revival," CBS News' Anthony Mason reports on the rich history of Port Chester's recently rejuvenated Capitol Theatre. The piece is filled with music from some of the theater's original rock acts: Janis Joplin, The Grateful Dead, Eric Clapton and more.

The segment takes a look at the theater's history, includes an interview with Bob Weir, who first played Grateful Dead songs at The Cap in the 70s and has now returned to play with his own band. Mason also interviewed Questlove who had a residency with The Roots at The Cap during it's first month.

"A rock palace has to have had Janis Joplin, Pink Floyd, The Stones, Bowie. That kind of history is important, you know, because i think it's still here in the air," owner Peter Shapiro tells Mason. (Read Patch's interview with Shapiro here.)
