Community Honors Retired Rye Bay Constable LT Landau

Thank you to Det. Gary L. Olivier, a retired Rye police and current Pound Ridge police officer for submitting this information.

Former police, co-workers and friends gathered for a dinner at the Casa Rina restaurant in Thornwood to honor Bay Constable LT Andrew Landau who recently retired from a more than 26 year-long year career in Marine Law enforcement. LT Landau began his Marine Law Enforcement career with the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department in 1985 as a Bay Constable, rising to the rank of LT and Commanding Officer prior to retiring from Mamaroneck Village in 2005.

That same year LT Landau was hired on by the City of Rye Police Department as a Bay Constable Marine Law Enforcement Officer, serving with the City of Rye until the fall of 2011. "There is not one person in this room that LT Landau has not extended his assistance, knowledge and friendship to in his 26 plus years serving the Mamaroneck and Rye NY Police Departments".

He taught us all to work together in the sound shore jurisdictions and was instrumental in melding the marine Patrol Units from Stamford CT to NYC as a cohesive group" said Gary Olivier, the event organizer and former Commanding Officer of the Rye Police Marine Unit. LT landau was presented with a Plaque given to him by his fellow Marine Enforcement officers recognizing his 26 plus years of service.

The plaque was presented to LT Landau by current Rye Police Marine Unit Commanding Officer, PO Julio Rossi. Ret Rye PD Special Operations Sgt Susan Rigano, Rye Bay Constables Larry Miano, Tony Cassinelli and Brian Guski, as well as current Mamaroneck Village Marine Officers Felix Carcagno and Jeff Larusso were on hand to celebrate LT landau's commitment to Marine Law Enforcement and his dedication in protecting the boating public.

Two former and one current Rye Bay Constables were recognized as well.  Former Port Chester Harbor Master of 20 years and current Rye Bay Constable Bruce Caldwell,  were honored for 30 years of service to the residents of Port Chester and residents of Rye.   Det. Patrick Early, (Retired NYPD Detective and former Rye Bay Constable) and Michael Outhouse, (currently a Putnam County Sheriffs Department officer) were also given awards for their service to the City of Rye Marine Unit.

"Andy was instrumental in making these units what they are today.  We're proud of you and proud of what these officers do everyday to protect the boating public" said Julio Rossi. Photo credit,  Bay Constable Larry Miano.
