Daiso Japan To Open At Rye Ridge Shopping Center

RYE BROOK, NY — Get ready to buy a whole array of stuff you didn't even know you needed until you saw it on the shelf. The wildly addictive Diaso Japan is coming to town.

The Rye Ridge Shopping Center, Plaza and South announced that the popular Japanese "optimized price" retailer Daiso has signed a long-term lease for the 6,000-square-foot space formerly occupied by Ace Hardware.

Daiso, based in Hiroshima, Japan, is a popular general merchandise store with a dedicated following. The chain, with over 5,000 stores in over 25 countries, is known for offering an eclectic, but practical, design-focused mix of more than 100,000 products and 40,000 product lines. Think Ikea meets the dollar store.

After opening its first U.S. store in Seattle back in 2005, the company has rapidly expanded across the country. Other New York Daiso locations include: Scarsdale, Flushing, Rego Park, Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Daiso's merchandise has an international reputation of high quality with a competitive pricing strategy. Daiso designs and manufactures many of their products themselves. Stores typically carry $1.75 products spanning holiday decor, party favors, storage solutions, kitchenware, beauty supplies, stationery, gift wrap, greeting cards, pet supplies, gardening items, electronics, snacks, toys and school/craft supplies. While the majority of items are priced at $1.75, some items may sell for slightly more. The company says that there is something new to find with every visit.

Daiso products are also famous due to being the subject of social media "haul" videos for everything from cosmetics application to craft, slime and baking videos. Daiso store grand openings are known to draw lines that snake around the building.

"I have been working to get Daiso here for many years," said Erin Hinchey, leasing agent for Rye Ridge Shopping Center. "They are the perfect compliment to our existing retailers. They will provide our shoppers with products of great importance in their everyday life, all of great design and at really quality price points. I am so excited for them to open."

Daiso joins recent new leases, totaling over 20,000 square feet, with Madison's Niche, Amazing Lash, Prosper IV, JECTNYC, CityMD and Dr. David Stern.

The Rye Ridge Shopping Center, Plaza & South are located at Ridge & Bowman Avenues in Rye Brook NY.
