Galactic Brings the Funk To Port Chester
New Orleans based band Galactic satisfied jazz, blues and funk fans at The Capitol Theatre Saturday night.
Galactic, an 18-year-old band formed in New Orleans and known for playing the biggest party in America, Lundi Gras (Monday Gras, the night before Fat Tuesday), brought its funky, brassy NoLa sound to Port Chester Saturday night.
Playing songs from its latest album Carnivale Electricos with "In Living Color," singer Cory Glover as the front man, the band had an enthusiastic crowd of hundreds dancing to their music at The Capitol Theatre.
Jazz piano legend, Allen Toussaint,Β opened for Galactic wearing a shiny red and gold suit with leather sandals and socks. During one of his last songs, Mister MardiΒ Gras, Toussaint tossed "throws," Mardi Gras beads and masks, to an excited crowd.
