4. Volunteer to Clean Up the Grounds at the Meeting House and Bird Homestead
From Rye City Hall: At 10 am on Saturday, March 23, volunteers will have an opportunity to enjoy the camaraderie of working outdoors in a group at a grounds clean-up session at the Meeting House and Bird Homestead. Sponsored by the Committee to Save the Bird Homestead, volunteers will help gather and haul fallen sticks and will rake tidal debris to prepare the grounds for the mowing season. The clean up is scheduled to take place before the bird-nesting season starting in April. Alison Beall, Curator Emerita of Marshlands Conservancy, will lead the work. Ms. Beall has more than 35 years experience as an environmental educator in Rye. Volunteers should gather at the Meeting House, 624 Milton Road, at 10 a.m. to receive direction from Ms. Beall. Participants should wear work gloves if they have them and dress for outdoor work. Bringing leaf rakes would be helpful. All ages are welcome and community service hours are available for students. For further information contact birdhomestead.meetinghouse@gmail.com or 914-967-0099.
5. Community Conversation with Blind Brook Schools Chief
