After Nearly 2 Decades As A Destination For Sweet Treats, The Doors Will Soon Close For Good (patch.com) — Rye residents are saying goodbye to The Snackery Bakeshop, a beloved specialty bakery that has been a local staple for nearly 18 years. Owner Sarah Leand announced she is closing the Rye shop to focus on her family after a difficult year, thanking customers and staff for making the bakery part of the community’s milestones and traditions.
   

2. Hudson Valley, New York Driver Passed Out On Sidewalk With 27 Gas Cans (wrrv.com) — Rye police say they found a driver passed out in a running car on the Forest Avenue sidewalk near Beck Avenue, then uncovered 27 nitrous oxide canisters and charged him with impaired driving. The man, from Norwalk, Connecticut, was released on an appearance ticket and is due in City of Rye Court, as the article also reviews broader New York driving risks.
   

3. Milton Point Provisions Owner Reflects on Shock of Allegedly Getting Ripped off by Ex-employee (ryerecord.com) — A longtime Rye resident and owner of Milton Point Provisions says a former manager is accused of using the restaurant’s Amazon account to make thousands in personal purchases, with the case now in Rye City Court. The neighborhood spot on Milton Road, opened just as COVID hit, has since marked five years in business while navigating this latest challenge.
   

4. Westchester Board of Legislators elect leadership for new term (lohud.com) — Westchester’s Board of Legislators has kicked off its 2026 term, including representation for a district that covers Rye through newly sworn-in legislator Anant Nambiar. County leaders kept existing top leadership in place and highlighted priorities like housing, childcare, and essential services that will shape policies affecting Rye and neighboring communities this year.
