Four Nights of Phil Lesh & Friends Satisfy Dead Fans at The Cap

Four nights of Phil Lesh and Friends sold out quickly and satisfied thousands of dedicated fans.

The Grateful Dead'sΒ 72-year-old bassist Phil Lesh returned to The Capitol Theatre for the first time since 1971 for a four-day run this past weekend. Β 

Phil Lesh and Friends, singer/songwriter Jackie Greene, guitarist John Kadlecik, drummer Joe Russo and keyboardist Adam MacDougall, played some of the Dead's most loved and well-known songs and covered songs by the Beatle's, Eric Clapton and other blues and rock artists during the Nov. 15-18 shows.

Psychedelic projections of bubbles, tie dye, stars and other trippyΒ images custom-designed to match the band's music coveredΒ The Cap's dome and walls throughout th show.

On Saturday, Nov. 17, Phil & Friends opened with "Alabama Getaway" and played mostly songs from the Dead's era, including a cover of Eric Clapton's "After Midnight."Β 

The second set opened with a fast-paced New Orlean's classic "Iko, Iko," and included more classics like "Terrapin Station," and "Shakedown Street."Β
