Rain Doesn't Stop Rye Rec Campers

Today's steady rain did not stop Rye Recreation Lower Camp children from making the most of an exciting day today. The group of kindegarten through second-graders put on their annual camp show at Rye High School and then enjoyed a picnic under the shelters at Rye Rec park before being treated to some entertainment by David Levitan.

The picnic comes a week before the last day of camp and is always done the day of the big camp show, said Director Dana Paolino. Paolino is a teacher from Stamford, Ct. who has worked at Rye Rec camp for the last ten years. This is her first year as director. Chris Mantz is also a director this year.

"The summer has gone really great," Paolino said. "We are really lucky to have a lot of our counselors and staff back this year and the campers had a lot of fun, which is a tribute to our staff."

Mantz and Paolino gave a special thanks to Art Director Regina Cullivan in their daily email to parents. They wrote:
Please assist our team in giving many thanks to our Art Director, Regina Cullivan. She works tirelessly to assist every group with their costume, helps coordinate all stage materials, and with her team of artists, creates the gorgeous backdrop. Regina also put together an Art Show in her art room for your viewing pleasure, as well as an open house of our Indoor Recreation room. Please take the time to not only thank Regina for her amazing vision and fantastic work ethic, but also walk through the Art Show and Indoor Rec. open house during the picnic.
