Rye Brook Board Approves $750K Bond for Rye Town Garage Purchase

The Rye Brook Board of Trustees authorized the issuance of a $750,000 bond to purchase the municipal garage at 511 West William Street at its meeting Aug. 19. The Town of Rye is selling the property, a 31,7000 square-foot highway garage, to Rye Brook Β for $685,000 as part of its downsizing efforts. Since 1982, the Town was leasing the property to Rye Brook for $1 a year and the village has used it as its highway garage, which it will continue to do.

The bond will cover the purchase price and any incidental costs, Village Manager Chris Bradbury said.

Mayor Paul Rosenberg thanked Rye Town Supervisor Joe Carvin, Rye Town Attorney Paul Noto, and the Rye Town board for approving the sale of the property.

β€œThis is something very important for the village in order for our highway garage to continue to be in operation,” Rosenberg said.

Village Attorney Edward Beane explained that business terms have been fully negotiated but some technical issues still need to be worked out. The final version of the contract will have all technical language resolved, he said.
