Rye Fire Department Quickly Handles Car Fire After I-95 Driver Calls 911

The Rye Fire Department received a call shortly before noon about a car fire by the Old Post Road and Playland Access Road.

The Rye Fire Department received a call at 11:47 am regarding a vehicle fire by the Old Post Road and Playland Access Road. The driver, traveling on Interstate 95, noticed smoke emanating from the engine. He promptly exited the highway and pulled over in Rye. Upon raising the hood of his vehicle, flames quickly engulfed it. The driver dialed 911, prompting the Rye Fire Department to respond. They managed to extinguish the fire by noon without any reported injuries to the driver or firefighters. The Rye Police Department also responded and assisted with traffic control. Thank you to the Rye FD and PD for their quick response!
