Rye Hazing Suspects Due in Court Tuesday

Three Rye High School students who are accused of hazing eighth-graders on June 1 are due back in court at 9 a.m. Tuesday after their case was adjourned in Rye City Court on Sept. 11 at the request of their attorneys. This case was also adjourned at the request of the the defense on July 21.

Sean Hinson, Tristan Scragg, both 17, and Max Meyerson, 16, are charged with second-degree felony assault and misdemeanor counts of first-degree hazing and second-degree unlawful imprisonment.  They have all entered not guilty pleas for the misdemeanor charges and acknowledged receipt of orders of protection issued by the court for an unnamed witness.

The alleged incident involved at least two victims who were taken by car from Rye Free Reading Room to county owned Marshlands Conservancy  in Rye on June 1. According to the Westchester County Police, the victims were "'paddled' multiple times with a large piece of lumber, causing bruising and other injuries to their buttocks and legs.
