1 Hurt In Fire In Selden Over Weekend: Police
It was in 1 of 2 serious fires in Brookhaven Town; in a second fire in Mastic Beach, Arson Squad detectives responded, cops say.

BROOKHAVEN TOWN, NY — One person was hurt in a fire in Selden in one of two serious fires to break out in Brookhaven Town on Saturday, Suffolk police said.
Residents were making a fire pit in the backyard of a home on Magnolia Drive when a greenhouse in the backyard caught fire at around 3 p.m., police said, adding, that one resident was treated at the scene for a burned foot.
The Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal's office also responded to investigate, according to police.

In the second fire, which started earlier in the day at a home on Cypress Drive in Mastic Beach at around 1:15 a.m., no one was hurt, however, Arson Squad detectives were called to investigate the scene, police said.
Four people from two households were helped by the American Red Cross, the organization said on Monday.

A dryer fire broke out at a home on Herdman Court in Middle Island just after 4 p.m. on Saturday; the house was not damaged, according to police.
Also on Saturday, a fire broke out at a home on Mount Vernon Avenue in Medford just after 10 p.m., but it was extinguished before the fire department arrived, police said.
A small engine fire also broke out in a vehicle on Tremont Avenue in Medford just before 7 p.m. on Thursday night, according to police.
The fire was extinguished with no injuries, police said.
